Things You'll Need:
- Vista operating system
- in your laptop
- or desktop computer
-
Step 1
.
Adjust Vista's User Account Control (UAC). You can get rid of some of the nag pop-ups that always seem to be asking "are you absoposolutely sure you want to install this program?". Use the links in the Resources section for more information on the steps to take to optimize the UAC. -
Step 2
.
Ease up Vista's Aero Transparency feature. This is one of these graphics things that can be a bit cool, but eats up resources. Use the links in the Resources section for more information on the steps to take to minimize the resource drain from Aero. -
Step 3
.
Adjust Advanced Settings. Similarly, other resource-intensive features can be toned down in order to free up Vista resources and speed up your system. -
Step 4
.
Turn off Unneeded Features and Services. This can really help speed your start-up (boot) time. There's so much stuff that Vista opens up every time you boot up, but 99% of the time it's just not needed.
Use the links in the Resources section for more information on the steps to identify and disable unnecessary features and services.
