How to Make a Facebook Group

You can use the power of social networking to promote your business through a Facebook group. It will provide an easy way to announce news and communicate with potential and existing customers. Follow these steps to a make a Facebook group.

      Log in to your existing account at Facebook.com or sign up for a free account if you don't have one.

      Click on the "Home" link on the top right of the page in your Facebook account,. On the right side of the page, under "Applications," click on the "Groups" link. On the top right, click on the button that reads, "Create a New Group."

      Complete the Step 1 page including the group name, description, type, news and contact information.

      Fill out the rest of the page to customize your group options on the Step 2 tab,. You can upload a picture for the group and link it to your website. Click on the "Save" button.

      Click on the right to select friends to invite them when you will be directed to the "Members" tab. You can also enter in email addresses to invite people who are not on Facebook via email. Click the "Add" button to invite them to join your group.

      Click on the top left tabs to edit the "Group Info," "Customize" your group options, select "Officers," or invite "Members." To get to your group in Facebook, click on the "Home" link on the top left of the page, and then click on "Groups" on the right. Your newly created group will appear on the top right. Click on it to get to your group page and editing options page, where you can change the group name, type and description any time.

Tips & Warnings

  • You will be the creator and admin for the group. You cannot transfer the group's ownership on Facebook.
