How to Become a Cardiovascular Sonographer in North Carolina
A cardiac sonographer is a diagnostic ultrasound sonographer who specializes in the imaging of the heart and major vessels using an ultrasound device. This fast growing medical specialty requires further advanced training and education after completing the basic ultrasound sonographers' educational program. An associates or a bachelor's degree is preferred. These medical professionals work closely with Cardiologists diagnosing conditions of the heart, its valves and related vessels. A cardiovascular sonographer may become certified in this specialty through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
