GIVE THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE
GIVE THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE

In less than a month Thanksgiving will be upon us. We'll all gather with our family and friends and enjoy a huge feast that has been cooking all day. Everyone is warm and happy.....well, some of us are and some are not. There are so many families this year who have fallen onto hard times, there's no money to pay the bills or for utilities let alone buy everything needed for a Thanksgiving feast. Well, you can change that, you can adopt a family who is going thru hard times and give them all that they need to make a Thanksgiving dinner.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Friends & Family
  • Your church or community group
  • Neighbors
  • Your childs school
  • Your co-workers
  1. Step 1
    GO OUT AND COLLECT FOOD

    GO OUT AND COLLECT FOOD

START A FOOD DRIVE. If you belong to a church or community group that has members that are going thru hard times, start a food drive to help those going without. You know how these work, everyone brings can goods or other supplies so someone can put together a Thanksgiving dinner. If you or someone you know has the means, ask them to buy as many turkeys as they can to give to those less fortunate.

  2. Step 2
ALMOST EVERYONE CAN FIND A FEW THINGS IN THEIR OWN KITCHEN TO DONATE

Group collections are great but if you want to do something on your own, adopt a family you know is having a hard time. Ask around, check with your neighbors, there are always families in need. If your in the position to go and buy the groceries for a family, that would be wonderful. If not maybe you and several friends or family could go together and do a mini food drive just with the people you know. It's amazing how much food we can find in our own pantry's or cupboards that we really don't need.

  3. Step 3
    NOTHING LIKE A TURKEY DINNER

    NOTHING LIKE A TURKEY DINNER

Imagine how happy you could make a family when you deliver enough food to provide a Thanksgiving dinner. It doesn't take much, and there are so many of us that can at least find a few cans or the fixings for a pumpkin pie. So, ask around, it probably won't be hard to find someone in need, and you'll feel so good knowing you provided a wonderful meal for a family.

Tips & Warnings
  • If there are many in your community that need a helping hand, maybe someone could check with one of the large grocery stores. They usually can find several cases of turkeys to donate to a good cause, especially if your affiliated with your church. Organize a bake sale at your church or garden club. If everyone made a couple of pumpkin pies or cut up bread for stuffing, your donated dinners would be a hit.

on 12/17/2008 That sounds like a breach of security to me for people to get their names from a food pantry.
