How to Customize a Laptop
There are many ways you can personalize your laptop to make it your own. Change the background picture on your desktop, the sounds that your computer makes during certain processes or even what your mouse cursor looks like. Customize each area individually or select a theme with its own graphics and sounds, and it will be your own.

Change your desktop background either by right-clicking on the desktop directly or from the personalization menu, under "Desktop Background." Select from one of the pictures Microsoft has provided or browse your computer or the Internet and select another one. Once applied, this will become your new desktop and you can change it at any time.

From the "Screensaver" option in the personalization menu, choose a new screensaver. Screensavers offer privacy when you are away from your computer and are no longer required to protect a computer screen from damage.

Change the default sounds. If you want a special song to play when you start your computer or a new noise to alert you to an error, customize your Windows functions with sounds from the "Sounds" option under the personalization menu.
-
6
Double-click on the "Mouse Pointer" icon to change what your cursor looks like. There are several options.
-
7
Choose a theme. Select a theme from the "Theme" option in the personalization menu. This will change the colors, appearance, background picture and sometimes sounds. View the options with your laptop or browse the Microsoft website and download a new theme. Examples of included themes include Windows Classic or Windows Vista, but there are many more available online.
