It might seem scary to look into a hamster cage and suddenly find a bunch of little hamsters in a nest, when none were there yesterday. However, baby hamsters are very easy to take care of, and you can enjoy their company while giving them the right environment in which to grow.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Put the cage in an area that is neither too hot nor too cold. Don't keep it by a window or anywhere where there is a draft. position the cage in a spot where there will be plenty of darkness at night.

  2. Step 2

Resist the temptation to touch the nest, the mother or the babies. Keep your hands out of the cage unless you have to add fresh food or water for the mother hamster.

  3. Step 3

Provide the mother hamster with plenty of fresh food and water, and some extra vegetables or fruits. You can also add some hard-boiled egg for added protein.

  4. Step 4

Don't try to clean the cage for a few weeks, until the hamsters are running on their own. Leave them alone: Let them learn to eat and explore their new environment at their leisure.

  5. Step 5

Separate the male from the female hamsters by the time they are 4 weeks old--if you don't want more babies!

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't attempt to move the nest; the mother will get angry and might bite.
