Brush your Canaan dog on a weekly basis. This breed's coat requires very little attention, but weekly brushing will help remove loose hair, especially during the time your pet is shedding. Your Canaan dog should be bathed every couple of months using a mild shampoo.

Brush your Canaan dog's teeth on a daily basis using a special dog toothbrush and toothpaste. Brushing will help reduce plaque build up and other oral health problems that can quickly become serious. Use the same technique you would use to brush your own teeth, remembering to brush both the fronts and backs of the teeth. The dog toothpaste is designed to be swallowed by your pet, so do not worry about having him spit it out.

Feed your Canaan dog a nutritious diet of dog food. Canaan dogs need a nutritious diet in order to maintain their high level of activity. Check the nutrition label of your dog food to ensure that one of the first ingredients is meat, poultry or fish. Avoid feeding your Canaan dog table scraps and other people food.

Provide your Canaan dog with plenty of physical activity. Canaan dogs require a large amount of exercise. If not provided with enough physical activity, your pet may quickly become bored and destructive.
