There are ways to look good on the beach even if you're overweight and out of shape. You need to know how to do the best with what you've got. Knowing your faults and camouflaging them while highlighting your attractive qualities is how to look good on the beach.

From Quick Guide: Beach Body Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start an exercise program, even if you're going to the beach today. Exercise helps firm muscles and flab, and you start seeing results right away.

  2. Step 2

Find a bathing suit and cover-up or T-shirt that looks good on you. Choose colors that flatter your skin tone as well as styles that look right for your body type. If you're a large woman, you may want to emphasize well-supported cleavage or wear a sarong to cover dimply thighs. Men with a gut may look good in an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt.

  3. Step 3

Remove visible pubic hair by trimming, waxing or using a depilatory. Men who are too hairy, especially on their backs, may also need to remove it.

  4. Step 4

Bring a comfortable sand chair and large umbrella. Don't plan to just lie on a towel or blanket the whole time looking like a beached whale. Wear sunblock to avoid becoming a fried lobster.

  5. Step 5

Apply bronzer down the sides of your abs to make them look like you've been working out. Apply it after you've applied sunblock.

  6. Step 6

Accessorize with cool sunglasses that flatter your face and a wide-brimmed hat or cap. Puka shells or surf-type necklaces and beads look great on men or women. Use self-tanning lotion or bronzer if you're doughy from spending months under wraps.
