Feelin' lucky? You may not be able to change your odds in Vegas or with the lottery, but you can certainly change your chances of winning standard, random entry contests. Putting in a little effort changes your chances exponentially, so take the time and soon you could be rolling in cash and prizes.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You'll Need:

  • Calendar Pen
  1. Step 1

Be on the lookout for contests everywhere you go. Tons of stores offer drawings, and many let you enter at home or through the mail, too. When you see one, write it down. Do the same for contests you enter online. Log the prize, where or how to enter, if there is an entry limit and the deadline.

  2. Step 2

Don't discriminate when it comes to contests. If they're raffling off something you don't really need or want, then you can always put it on eBay and buy something that you do. A win is a win.

  3. Step 3

Mark the contests on a calendar. For those that have no entry limit, denote certain days of the week to submit entries in bulk. For those that have a daily limit, mark off to enter each day until the drawing. For those where there is a one-entry limit, simply mark down that you've entered and when the drawing is.

  4. Step 4

Get your friends and family in on the action. This works especially well for vacation giveaways, as everyone would benefit from such a prize. The more people you can get involved, the better.

  5. Step 5

Participate in giveaways that aren't just random drawings, too. Sites such as Jellyfish, Teet and Limbo offer prizes for guessing and bidding on prizes or amounts. Check with them daily and you're nearly guaranteed to win something.

  6. Step 6

Be vigilant. Don't get disheartened if your luck doesn't turn right away. Your odds of winning increase with each entry you submit.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't get caught up in any contests that make you spend money. In order to really win in contests, they should be free. Otherwise, you may be losing money. Also, by spending money, you are technically gambling.
