      Open a new Dreamweaver document. Click on "File." Select "New."

      Select a blank page "HTML" document. Choose "<None>" for Layout type.

      Insert an image. You can do this two ways. First select the icon on the "Common" bar and then select "Image" (see image). Or select "Insert" from the menu bar and then select "Image."

      Find an image on your computer that you want to add to your webpage. You should use .gif or .jpg files because they are universally accepted.

      Type alternate text that describes your image. Alternate text describes the image and acts as a placeholder on a webpage that does not display images. Click "OK."
