Instructions

    • 1

Carefully fill the sock about 3/4 full with the rice or dried beans and tightly secure it with a rubber band. You should place the rubber band about 1/2 to one inch above the rice or beans. Now fill the rest of the sock about 2/3 full with rice. Use the yarn and tie the sock closed about 1 inch above the rice. Divide the rice filled section of the sock almost in half. You will want the section closest to the top to be a bit smaller. This will be the snowman's head. Tie a piece of yarn tightly around the sock where you divided into two sections.

    • 2

Squeeze the snowman so that it is almost divided into halves, with the top half, the head, being a bit smaller than the bottom half. Wrap a rubber band around where you've divided up the sock. The top half will "sit" on the bottom half. You should now have a snowman shape with the long, floppy top of the sock hanging off the top rubber band.

    • 3

Make the hat. Roll or fold down the top of the sock so that it forms a hat. It should sit on the top part of the snowman. Now your snowman should have a hat, followed by a round head, and then a round body.

    • 4

Add some accessories. Tie a piece of fabric of felt around the "neck" of the snowman (the top rubber band) to make a scarf. Use glue to secure buttons down the front of the body, and a pom pom on top of the hat.

Create a face. You can use buttons, wiggle eyes, a paper carrot nose or anything else you can think of to create a face for the snowman. You could also add small twigs for arms to make it look more realistic.
