1
Know your skin type. Wash your face with soap, wait two hours, and then blot your forehead and cheeks with single-ply tissue. If you have oily splotches appear, your skin is oily. If your skin is normal, you will see small spots of oil. If you have no spots, your skin is dry. Knowing your skin type will help you learn how to treat it.

You are what you eat. Eat a well-balanced diet, including plenty of fresh green vegetables. This will make your skin glow from the inside.

Treat your face to a sauna. Boil a pot of water and remove it from the heat. Cover tender skin around the eyes and lips with petroleum jelly and cover your head with a towel. Lean over the pot and allow the steam to open up clogged pores. Stay at least 16 inches away from the steam, because you don't want to get burned. Chamomile flowers make normal skin glow, so throw some into the pot. Oily skin benefits from peppermint leaves and dry skin from dried rosemary. Steam your skin for five minutes, twice a week.

Remember the CTM. That stands for Cleanse, Tone and Moisturize. Use the appropriate cleanser for your skin type, and follow up with a mild astringent and then moisturizer. This is an everyday skin exercise.

Don't play with your face. Oil from your hands can be transfered to your face causing flareups. You may also transfer infections.
If a flare up occurs, or you develop a blackhead, do not squeeze or pick at it. If you must remove one, the best way to do so is to apply a hot compress to the area. After soaking the area, place clean fingers on either side and gently apply pressure. After wards, clean the area with a mild astringent.

Tips & Warnings
Always use clean hands to apply makeup. Use a washcloth and towel specifically for your face only. Witch hazel is an economical and mild astringent.
