How to Make Felt Stockings With Kids
Making felt stockings for Christmas is a great way to spend a little time with your kids. It is simple to do and gives the children a way to be creative and help decorate for the holidays in their own way.

Use a marker to trace the shape of a stocking onto one of the two pieces of felt. Cut it out. Once it is cut, place it on top of the other piece of felt. Cut the same shape by keeping the scissors as close to the first cutout as possible.
If the children are old enough, you can let them trace and cut out their own shapes. If they are too young for scissors, you can at least let them do the tracing by creating a stencil for them to go around.

Turn the piece that you used a marker on toward the other, so that the marker will be on the inside of the stocking and not visible.

Use the hot glue gun to secure the two pieces of felt together. Do not glue the top of the stocking. After the glue dries, your stockings are ready to be decorated. Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for each stock to be made.

Cut a hole at the top of the stock through both pieces of felt. Make sure the hole is at the top, but near the back of the stocking. In other words, on the same side as the heel, not the toe. Cut a piece of ribbon, and have the kids pull it through the hole and tie it off. This will be the loop you hang it by.

Use the extra pieces of felt that are different colors to cut out whatever shapes the kids want to use to decorate their stockings. Let the kids glue the shapes on with the white glue, and set the stockings somewhere flat to dry.

Hang the stockings up around the house, and enjoy the extra decoration that you made with your children.

Tips & Warnings
If you want to get a little more fancy, purchase other materials or cords to go around the edges of the stockings to hide the felt edges.
Young children should not use hot glue guns. Have an adult do this step.
