Start assembling your tree on a sturdy base. You can either use a plate or a cardboard base used in cake decorating. Start with the biggest cookies at the bottom of the tree and gradually work up to the smallest at the top. You will use approximately 25 cookies to complete your tree. Use white vanilla frosting as glue to stick the cookies together.

Dye small amounts of vanilla frosting with food coloring. You need about 2 cups of vanilla frosting dyed green for the tree itself. Put green frosting into a cake decorating bag and pipe small leaves or peaks onto the tips of the stars.
