How to Write an Entertaining Blog Post

It used to be that professional writers were the only people who could distribute their musing to the masses. Now anyone can start his own blog and write about whatever he wants. (Blogs are web pages that feature a number of posts on a common topic or generated by a specific source.) It's easy to start a blog, but a good deal harder to earn and maintain an audience.

1. Pick a theme for your blog. It's easier to write blog posts when they all pertain to the same subject. Some of the most popular blogs on the Internet cover gossip, sports or entertainment. These are areas of common interest, and each post in a blog relates to the chosen theme in some way.

2. Write an attention-grabbing headline. You need to attract viewers to each and every post. Give it a title that summarizes what you wrote, but also entices the reader--for example, " Does Dairy Aid Weight Loss?" Many people are interested in losing weight, so by spotlighting a popular topic in the title, you will make people give your post a second look.

3. Keep it short and sweet. The Internet is all about high-speed access. Readers want their information delivered to them in small and manageable chunks. When writing a post, cover all of the important points, but make them no longer than a paragraph. Readers get discouraged by long passages.

4. Find a picture to illustrate your subject. The right photo can make or break a blog post. Use images that are related to the topic and correspond to the title of the post.

5. Provide links. A link to another website can be used as a way to credit a source, but it can also give the reader another place to go if she wants to explore your topic further.
