How to Manage Business Accounts in Quicken H & B 2008

Quicken Home & Business 2008 can track all of your finances. It creates a complete picture of your individual financial situation. You can add accounts for both personal and business purposes. Quicken has numerous features you can employ to manage your company's accounts and keep up with all of your business transactions. There are a few simple strategies you should use to keep data relating to your company well organized in Quicken.

      View a summary of your business accounts. Quicken's account list contains every account you have created. You can access it by choosing "Account List" in the "Tools" menu on the toolbar. The business accounts are separated in groups on the list. This includes invoice, bill and business tax accounts. Details about each account are shown. This provides you with an overview of all your accounts.

      Open a specific business account to work with. You can double-click on an account listed in the account list to open it. The accounts are also shown in the "Accounts Bar" that is situated on the left side of the window. Click on any of the business accounts to access it.

      Add a business account. Click on "Go to Business Center," which is under the "Business" menu on the toolbar. Make certain "My Data" is selected on the upper right. Click on "Add Account" and follow the directions given. If at any time you need assistance, click "Help"(or the "?" icon) for additional details.

      Edit a business account in Quicken. You can alter the name, phone numbers, tax information and other account facts. Open the account, click on "Overview" and then "Edit Account Details." Make all changes needed and then click on the "OK" button.

      Remove a business account. You can permanently delete an account if you need to. Open the accounts list, highlight the account and click on "Delete." Type "yes" in the confirmation box and then click on "OK."

      Hide an account in Quicken. You can also hide an account instead of deleting it. This way you will keep all of the financial transactions regarding this account, but it will no longer be listed in your accounts list. Click on the "Manage Accounts" tab in the accounts list. Put a check mark in the box under "Hide in Quicken" for the account and then click "Close."
