How to Do a Wheelie in "GTA IV"

In Grand Theft Auto IV, motorcycles offer you the chance to do stunts and complete the "Wheelie Rider" achievement. Knowing how to safely complete a "wheelie," a stunt in which you ride only on the rear tire of the motorcycle, will reward you with 30 gamer points if you can hold the wheelie for a distance of at least 500 feet.

• Grand Theft Auto IV NRG-900 motorcycle

1. Find a NRG-900 motorcycle. This is the best motorcycle to use to complete a wheelie, as it is lighter and faster than any other motorcycle. If you can't find one riding the streets of Liberty City, you can steal one from the motorcycle dealership in Alderney between the Leftwood and Westdyke neighborhoods.

2. Find a straightaway. Ride to any straightaway in Liberty City, preferably one with no steep hills. The westbound lane of Grand Boulevard in Bohan, which leads to the Northwood Heights Bridge, is an ideal location.

3. Hold the right thumbstick all the way down and accelerate. After you hold down the right thumbstick, press the "RT" button to accelerate. The front end of the motorcycle will gradually lift.

4. Balance the motorcycle on its rear wheel. Once the front end of the motorcycle is in the air, gradually release some of the pressure on the right thumbstick. If you continue to hold the thumbstick all the way down, the bike will flip over onto Niko, knocking him off the bike and injuring him.

5. Gradually accelerate as you ride on one wheel. If you allow the motorcycle to decelerate or accelerate too much, the front end of the motorcycle will fall back onto the road. Practice this until you are able to balance the motorcycle and accelerate without falling off or crashing.

Tips & Warnings

• Make sure your health bar is full so that you do not die from repeatedly falling off the motorcycle as you attempt to complete a wheelie. Try to ride on the yellow line in the middle of the road to avoid traffic and other obstacles.

on 2/19/2009 I found an even easier way to do it! Go to the airport with the NRG 900 and get some speed. Go into cinmatic mode and press the RT to slow down time, making it easier. Then, hit a ramp and the rest of the distance will count!
