Babies love books--but as they flip through the pages, they also rip, tear and chew on them. Even board books have a hard time standing up to the demands of a curious baby. Avoid damaging your library with a custom-made picture book for your baby. A small plastic photo album filled with colorful pictures will provide your baby with a nearly indestructible book he can flip through all by himself.

Things You'll Need:

  • 4-by-6 inch photo album Old magazines Clip art
  1. Step 1

Purchase an inexpensive 4-by-6 inch photo album. These can often be found at a reasonable price in the photo department of discount stores and drug stores.

  2. Step 2

Select old magazines with photos of babies, animals or other bright, colorful pictures. Babies enjoy seeing pictures of other babies, so a parenting magazine will have lots of good choices. Trim images to 4 by 6 inches and insert them into the photo album.

  3. Step 3

For a themed baby picture book, use clip art. Select clip art from your word processor program (MS Word is full of good clip art) or greeting card-making software. Select clip art with strong contrasts and bright colors to hold the baby's attention. Size the art to fit within a 4-by-6 inch rectangle and print. Trim with scissors and insert it into the photo album.

  4. Step 4

Make an ABC, 123 book. With a little patience, you can select images to illustrate the letters of the alphabet or numbers--A for apple, B for baby, C for cat and so forth. You can make a numbers book very easily with clip art, by using smaller art and grouping them by numbers: 1 flower, 2 bees, 3 birds.

Tips & Warnings
  • When your baby gets tired of the picture book you made, you can easily update the photos.
