Step 1
Look for the bright red paper lanterns on the sidewalk outside the restaurant's entrance. It's the only distinguishing landmark in an otherwise nondescript shopping mall. Don't expect fancy decor inside, either. The small restaurant features regulation red vinyl booths, some piped-in flute music and a couple of Chinese calligraphy paintings.

Step 2
Take time to review the lengthy menu, which features rice and noodle dishes in all sorts of combinations, along with meat, poultry and seafood in various stir-fried, deep fried and wok-cooked creations. Plan to spend about $20 for two at dinnertime, or $15 at lunch, without cocktails. Begin with an appetizer such as crab puffs; deep fried dough pockets filled with cream cheese and seafood mixture.

Step 3
Choose hot and sour soup as a starter for two ($6). Select sweet and pungent chicken, one of the house specialties, as an entree, which feature deep-fried white meat served in a tangy and tart sauce. Fried rice, a staple dish, is another winner here. Meat eaters will also enjoy barbecue pulled pork, prepared the traditional way and served redolent with Asian spices. Seafood options include shrimp with lobster sauce and Grand Mariner shrimp.

Step 4
Order "lite" from J&M's "healthy menu" selections which features stir-fried meats and veggies served with steamed rice and tea. There are about 10 items to choose from that won't make much of a dent in your daily calorie allowance. If you're planning a get-together, consider ordering a party tray. The restaurant does a brisk catering as well as take-out business.
