How to Crochet Christmas Ornaments
Using some simple crochet you can create lovely, personalized Christmas ornaments. Begin with a simple crochet ball and the possibilities are endless.

Start by chaining two in the yarn color of your choice. Then work six single crochet into first chain.

Work the crochet in rounds. Use a stitch marker to mark the beginning of each round. For the next round, do two single crochet into each crochet. Now you should have a total of 12 stitches.

For the next round single crochet one and then in the next stitch do two single crochet. Continue this all the way around. You will now have a total of 18 stitches.

For the next round do a single crochet into the next two stitches and two single crochet into the third one. Repeat this the whole round. You will now have 24 stitches.

Continue to increase stitches until you have the desired size. Once you have the size you want, continue to work in rounds until you have half the size of the crochet ball you want.

Now it's time to decrease the size each round. Continue to decrease until you have 18 stitches and then stuff the crochet ball. Continue to decrease stitches until the ball is completed.

Tips & Warnings
Use I-cord, beads, and other embellishments to decorate the crocheted Christmas balls. To increase the size without having to add more rounds of stitches, switch to a larger crochet hook.
Too small of a crochet ball will not look right on a huge tree. Use existing Christmas balls to adjust the size accordingly.
