Need a quick, inexpensive idea for a gift? Memory wire bracelets, which consist of beads strung onto a coiled length of wire, have open ends and easily slip on and off the wrist, are easy to make. The materials that make up the bracelets cost very little, and assembling the jewelry is so simple that children can assist. It's simple to personalize this one-size-fits-all craft with different types and patterns of beads.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Package of memory wire with coils large enough to fit on a wrist Wire cutters Pliers Beads
  1. Step 1

Measure out about three loops of memory wire and cut the section away from the rest of the coils with the wire cutters.

  2. Step 2

Twist one end of the memory wire with the pliers to make a loop. The loop will keep the beads on the wire, so make sure it's twisted all the way around and pinched tightly closed with the pliers.

  3. Step 3

Lay the beads out on a flat surface to determine the pattern of the bracelet. The beads can either fill the wire or they can be spaced out on the wire in sections, leaving some of the wire exposed.

  4. Step 4

String the beads onto the wire. If the beads are being arranged in sections, be sure to space the sections evenly on the wire.

  5. Step 5

Close the open end of the wire by making another tight loop with the pliers.

Tips & Warnings
  • If small beads that just barely fit on the wire are available, they can keep patterns in place. Simply string one on before and after each section of beads to keep the clumps of beads from sliding around on the wire. This technique can also be used to make necklaces and rings. Simply purchase memory wire with larger or smaller loops.
