Your mom is special to you, so no ordinary plans will do for Mother's Day. Remember all the things she has done for you throughout your life. Don't just honor her as a mother, but also as woman and a person. Take Mother's Day to the next level and organize a memorable Mother's Day brunch.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Set your budget. You don't have to break the bank to give your mom a great day. She taught you better than that, right?

  2. Step 2

Build a theme around your mom's interests and hobbies. Incorporate her favorite things into the theme. Be creative. For a funny decoration, choose her favorite male movie star and paste a photo of him next to a photo of your mom. Is your mom always in heels? Get miniature high heeled shoes and fill with candies for centerpieces or party favors.

  3. Step 3

Choose a suitable location. A local restaurant is an easy option. Or consider a park or even your own back yard. Keep the weather in mind. If you think about an outdoor event, have a backup plan. Be sure there is ample parking for all the guests.

  4. Step 4

Write out invitations. If you decide to send out paper invitations, you can find Mother's Day options at many discount stores. Or make your own computer-generated invites with a invite-making software program (Microsoft sells a popular version. See Resources). Hand-made invitations are always a nice touch--they don't have to be perfect, just from the heart.

  5. Step 5

Make the guest list. You can keep it small with only family and close friends. Or invite everyone she knows to celebrate her special day. Just keep your budget in mind.

  6. Step 6

Create the menu. Include your mom's favorite foods. If you don't know, ask your dad or her friends. Omelet bars are a popular choice and easy to set up, even in your back yard. Buffets make everything easier. Consider any special dietary needs of your guests.

  7. Step 7

Plan the entertainment. Hire a band or DJ, or keep it simple and have a list of games ready--like charades. Or get everyone singing with karaoke--make sure your mom's favorite songs are on the play list.

  8. Step 8

Remember to plan entertainment for any young children who will be there. Keep kids busy by planning plenty of age-appropriate games and toys. If you're outside, organize chasing games--a good way to burn off energy.

  9. Step 9

Take lots of pictures. Place disposable cameras in various places for guests to snap some candid photos too. You can use those pictures to decorate next year's Mother's Day brunch.
