How to Free a Car Stuck in Deep Snow
When winter weather strikes, you can arm yourself with the power to get your car unstuck from deep snow by bringing a little kitty litter along for the ride. Kitty litter can make any surface rough and abrasive, and can therefore often provide cars with the extra traction they need to get back on solid ground. Follow these steps to make sure you're ready.
Instructions

1
Buy a large bag of kitty litter at the start of the winter weather season. Put this bag in the trunk of your car and don't take it out until snow season stops.
-
2
Get out the kitty litter if and when you get your car stuck in the snow. Tear a small hole in one corner of the bag so that you can pour with some degree of control.
-
-
3
Pour a layer of kitty litter directly behind and in front of each tire. The layer does not need to be very thick, but it should be as wide as the tire and extend either in front of or behind each tire by at least 6 inches.
-
4
Get in the car, start it up and attempt to drive towards the nearest paved surface. Start slowly, but once you get moving, accelerate as needed to maintain your momentum and get out of the snow.
-
5
Repeat as necessary by putting down more kitty litter if the car moves but doesn't move far enough.

Tips & Warnings
Do not stand outside of a car that is being driven out of deep snow, and do not attempt to push it out while someone is pressing the gas pedal. Snow is slick and can cause a stuck car to slide around in any manner of speed and direction, so standing outside of one is particularly dangerous.

Be careful not to use clumping litter, it will clump up the moisture and make it more slippery.
