1
Pick a cartoon decade based on your invite list. If it's a kiddie party, use newer cartoon characters. Ariel, The Simpsons and Sponge Bob are characters that children will identify with. If it's the 40 and older set, you may want to hint at Speed Racer, Mighty Mouse, The Roadrunner and Josie and the Pussycats. For the 60 plus crowd, Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Superman and Betty Boop may be the nudge your party-goers need to get creative juices flowing.

2
Add a suggestion list inside the invite. Suggesting at or hinting the type of character you are thinking about will be helpful to the invited guest. Also add a line in the invite that tells your guest they can call or email you for advice and helpful character hints.

Decorate your party room with bright primary colors and classic cartoon images. Cartoons are simple in nature and one dimensional. If as the host you are dressed as The Roadrunner, you wear bright blue, red and yellow and have white boxes labeled "ACME" on the food serving tables. Pepe Le Pew always had flowers, Bugs Bunny had bunches of carrots and Sponge Bob loves pineapple.

4
Play cartoon music. There are CDs available to purchase at Best Buy, Circuit City and other music retail giants that are all cartoon themes. The Archies, the 1960s cartoon rock group was popular on the radio although they were only a cartoon and they have CDs available with their big hit songs.

Offer prizes for costumes. Just by stating in the invitation that a prize will be awarded for "Best" costume will inspire creativity and spark competition. What this means to the party host is that your Cartoon Party will be a lot of fun for all.
