Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Child(ren)
  • Flexibility
  • Plan
  1. Step 1

Childcare is often expensive and takes a big chunk out of paychecks. Often times, in a two adult working home, one pay check goes to paying the childcare. That is now not necessary. Look at other alternative ways to reduce or cut down on childcare.

  2. Step 2

Assuming both parents have to work, not working is out of the question. One way to reduce the costs of childcare is having one parent work during the day and the other at night. That way one parent is always with the child. If your job or your spouse's job offers that option, you may want to look at it.

  3. Step 3

Many jobs and careers offer the options of telecommuting. Even if you or your spouse couldn't do it full time, by doing at least one day per week will help reduce the cost of child care.

  4. Step 4

Last but not least, there is the option of going part-time, while the other parent works full-time. With that route, careful budgeting and planning creatively will take place. There are many families who live frugal and are happy.
