Things You'll Need:
- A willing heart and the ability to get out of a comfort zone.
-
Step 1
Contact your local public or private school board, then contact your local community college. All of these places have needs that are rarely meet and are usually sitting on money that is never used for such things as tutoring, mentor, admissions, and adult education. To be honest you do not even need a degree in education to qualify.
-
Step 2
Get in touch with a director, principal, or human resources. Show your interest in teaching and helping others learn. If these individuals see that you are serious about helping they will put you to work. I have landed two part time teaching positions that do not conflict with other daily activities, and the pay is great.
-
Step 3
Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Teachers and tutors a special because they have the ability to learn the material and then return it to someone else. You probably do that on a daily basis already.
-
Step 4
Be open to explore full-time positions, because if you do a great job you will be needed. Our school systems are in need for people to bridge the gap between students and teachers. There is a need for more teachers with real life experience in certain areas.
