Step 1
Before you approach the bar, figure out what you want, and how you’re paying. Take your form of payment out of your pocket.
-
Step 2
When you find a space at the bar, make your form of payment visible. This is a perfect way to let the bartender know you want a drink and are prepared.
-
Step 3
If you’re having trouble getting the bartenders attention, keep your eyes on him/her. Try to make eye contact as soon as you can and they’re very likely to get to you as soon as they can.
-
Step 4
When the bartender approaches you, order your drink in the simplest way possible. Don’t assume they know a drink you had one time at a small bar in the middle of nowhere. It’s much easier to shout out what’s in it. Example: Instead of a Cape Cod, say Vodka Cranberry.
-
Step 5
Once you have your drink in hand you can choose to either open a tab (if you’re planning on ordering more drinks) or just pay for that one drink. The earlier is easier if you plan on staying a while and you won’t have to keep handing in your credit card if choose that as your form of payment.
