pick a gift to buy for your boss

There are times where it is expected to give your boss a gift, such as Boss' s day, Birthday's, and Christmas. Picking and Buying a gift for your boss does not have to cause stress. Here are some ideas.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If you have been with the company for awhile, you would have had time to notice items in your boss' s office. Are there pictures of kids, sports, vases, knick knacks, etc. It may give you some ideas on what they like.

  2. Step 2

Try and remember some of the conversations you have had. Did your boss talk about a particular restaurant, a specific sport, a specific store, a hobby they like. If you can not recall these conversations, ask coworkers if they know things your boss likes, in order to come up with ideas for gifts.

  3. Step 3

You can ask directly or indirectly about likes and dislikes. Directly: "Great necklace where did you get that?" Indirectly: "I have no idea what to get my wife/husband, what are you asking for Christmas?" or "My wife has been asking about a spa certificate for Christmas, where do you go?

  4. Step 4

Ideas on where to shop: If you know specifically what your boss likes and feel comfortable with the size, item, cost, purchase it. For example, if your Boss is a Chicago Bears fan and you want to buy a Jersey, make sure you are close to getting the right size. If you have a general idea of what stores, restaurant, etc, buy a gift card. This allows your boss to go where they like and get exactly what they want.

  5. Step 5

Malls have gift card that can be used at any store in the mall. Some chain restraints have gift cards that can be used at multiple locations. For example, Lettuce Entertain You restraints like Maggiano's, PF Changs, Shaws Crab house can be used at any location or restaurant. You can also purchase a general gift card like master card or American Express.

  6. Step 6

Lastly, go in with a coworker or a few if the gift price is too high. That way, you can get a good gift and not break your wallet and not feel like you had to sacrifice due to the cost.
