Things You'll Need:
- A genuine desire to want to help save our beautiful planet and help the less fortunate at the same time.

Step 1
Let's face it, with the way the world is these day's every little bit we all can do is a big help. Have you ever wondered what happens to your TV set when you put it out for collection? It gets thrown in a trash truck, gets crushed, and ends up in a land fill. Im a retired TV repair tech and this article is not ment to frighten you but ment to inform you and show you what you can do to help. TV and other electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, diodes are made of silicone and other materials that break down to toxic waste over time in land fills. Not to mention the plastic case that has decorated your living room for so many years takes ten's of thousands of years to decompose. The picture tube contains phosphors and other toxic materials we all dont want in our air and drinking water. So what can we do about it? Read on!

Step 2
Im a retired TV repair tech, I serviced TV's for over 30 years in Brooklyn, NYC. And I now recycle old tv and sell them to disadvantaged people for a fraction of what they would pay for a new or even a used set at a used or rummage shop. Before you put that old set out to the curb, look up a local TV service shop and ask them if they want it for parts. Isn't it better if the parts from your old set add new life to another set rather ending up in a land fill? Search the internet, perhaps there is a local organization with information of where to take it where it will do the most good. And of course if your simply replacing your set for a newer model and the old set is still working, dont throw it out, donate it to a local charity or to your church, Im sure they will have someone who needs it. Or (tv working or not) if you can afford the expense you can send it to me and I will see to it that it ends up (free of charge) with a family that cant afford a new TV set.

Step 3
Summary: Whether your old tv is working or not before throwing it out consider donating it to charity or your local church, or call a TV repair shop, they may take it for parts. Or Email me at retiredtvguy@live.com and make arrangements to have it shipped here. Either way your old tv or at least part of it will not end up in a land fill and will either be recycled into a working set or reused in a way where it least effects the environment.
Do good for earth & man, God will appreciate it!
