How to Remove Viruses and Spyware From Your Computer

Keeping your computer virus and spyware free doesn't require a lot of time or technical expertise. Most antivirus programs now include anti-spyware routines. You may have an expired antivirus program if you're using the one that shipped with your computer. Most antivirus programs included with new computers are trials, with a maximum of six months worth of updates. An out of date antivirus doesn't keep your computer secure. Fortunately several free antivirus programs exist to help you clear up your computer quickly.

Instructions

1. Download and install Avast Free Antivirus. The free edition of Avast's antivirus includes antivirus and anti-spyware protection. It also includes real-time scanning to keep your system secure.

2. Open your preferred Web browser and navigate to Avira's Free Antivirus download page. Click the green "Download" button and don't fill out the email form, the form sends you a trial of the premium version. The free version includes the basic protection required by your computer.

3. Use Microsoft Security Essentials to keep your system protected. MSE provides the same coverage as many paid antivirus program. It includes real-time scanning, antivirus and spyware protection, frequent updates and other advanced features.
