Things You'll Need:
- pug or other breed dog
- black ribbon, 1 inch wide, about 8 inches
- cardboard, white or gray
- tape
- scissors
- black bandanna
- miniature cowboy hat
- OR a pre-purchased Zorro dog costume
- The Legend of Zorro DVD
-
Step 1
Antonio and CatherineTalk to your dog about The Legend of Zorro, and explain that he too can be Zorro, for a party or special occasion, or maybe for a night out. Watch the film together to get a feel for the mannerisms as Antonio Banderas portrays him.
-
Step 2
Gather all the items listed for the Zorro ensemble.
-
Step 3
Cut two pieces of the black ribbon so that each strip is long enough to be worn as a bracelet on each of your dog's front legs. Cut the ribbon so that about two inches of overlap are available, so you can tape the ribbon to itself to hold it in place.
-
Step 4
Cut two star/spur shapes out of cardboard, and tape one to each of the black ribbons.
-
Step 5
As I said...Stay focused on what this is all about. It's about Antonio.
-
Step 6
When your dog is well fed and well rested, position the dog in a comfortable area.
-
Step 7
Wrap the bandanna (cape) across the back of the dog, and secure it in front, under the dog's chin.
-
Step 8
Next, fasten the cowboy hat, or special Zorro hat, if you purchased the costume, to the dog's harness so the hat rests just behind the dog's head, but to passersby, it looks like the dog is wearing the hat atop his head. This trick enables the dog's ears to remain more functional, and he will tolerate wearing the costume longer.
-
Step 9
OK, now go ahead and gently wrap the ankle spur ribbons around each of the dog's front legs. Tape for security, but not too tight!
-
Step 10
Now, your dog will be smashingly handsome, like Antonio Banderas, as Zorro! This classic look is timeless and appropriate for most special events and seasons!
