Things You'll Need:
- your height in inches or centimeters
- your weight in pounds or kilograms

Step 1
Take your weight in pounds and divide by the height in inches squared. Multiply this number by a conversion factor of 703.
weight(lbs)/[height(inches)]^2 x 703 -
Step 2
For metric measurements take your height in centimeters. square this number and divide your mass in kilograms.
weight(kg)/[height(cm)]^2 -
Step 3
For an average adult, aBMI of below 18.5 would indicate he/she is underweight.
18.5-24.9 would indicate a normal range, while 25-29.9 is overweight.
a BMI of 30 or above are an indication of obesity.
