The formulas you need in order to interpret your weight and height into your body mass index.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • your height in inches or centimeters
  • your weight in pounds or kilograms
  1. Step 1

    Take your weight in pounds and divide by the height in inches squared. Multiply this number by a conversion factor of 703.

    weight(lbs)/[height(inches)]^2 x 703

  2. Step 2

    For metric measurements take your height in centimeters. square this number and divide your mass in kilograms.

    weight(kg)/[height(cm)]^2

  3. Step 3

    For an average adult, aBMI of below 18.5 would indicate he/she is underweight.

    18.5-24.9 would indicate a normal range, while 25-29.9 is overweight.

    a BMI of 30 or above are an indication of obesity.

Tips & Warnings
  • dont let your bmi raise higher than 25!
