Step 1
When shopping for a wedding dress, look only at dresses that you can afford. Yes, it's tempting to look at super expensive dresses, but when you absolutely love one and just can't afford it, it's awful! You may say you're only looking at expensive dresses for ideas, but chances are, you won't find the exact same dress in your price range. Skip the heartache and skip the overpriced dresses.
-
Step 2
Shop for dresses that fit your shape. A dress may look beautiful on a mannequin with a boy shape, but if you've got curves, the dress won't cut it. It doesn't matter if you love it on the rack - if it doesn't fit you, it just doesn't fit.
-
Step 3
Only try on dresses that fit your style. It doesn't matter if your mom and your best friend think that a dress is perfect for you, because it's only perfect for you if YOU like it. It's your wedding, so it's your choice.
-
Step 4
Don't buy a dress if it isn't comfortable. Of course, you won't be as comfy as you would be in sweatpants and a t-shirt, but you should be able to breathe in the dress! Also, you should be able to eat. You did NOT spend a ton of money to not eat at your own wedding.
-
Step 5
If you can't walk in a dress, it's a no. Seriously. You need to walk down the aisle, and a dress needs to be understanding of this fact.
-
Step 6
Hit up the sale racks and consignment stores. There's no reason that you can't buy a sale dress - or even a used one! You can often get a more detailed, more expensive dress if you aren't afraid of sales or secondhand clothing stores.
