Step 1
Never trick or treat alone! Always make your children go in groups, led by an adult. Even older kids need to go in groups, even if they are old enough to go without the adult.
-
Step 2
Stick to neighborhoods you know! Don't go knocking on stranger's doors. Of course, you might not know everyone that you get candy from. That is why an adult MUST check the candy before ANY of it is eaten!
-
Step 3
Wear something light and reflective. Or better yet, carry a light of some sort. Glow sticks are fun, cheap, and a great way to be seen! And most kids love flashlights! Just remember not to shine them at others or at passing cars!
-
Step 4
Follow road safety rules! Watch for cars on the road before you cross. If you are driving, watch for small children that can dart unpredictably across the road. Better yet, leave your car at home and get a little exercise!
-
Step 5
Don't eat too much candy! Nobody likes a junk food hangover!
