Oh, the angst of a young girl looking at her own reflection! When I was younger, I thought being beautiful means having a dainty, English-looking nose. My own Greek features are more defined and my straight nose was the victim of many self-loathing glares. When I lived in Denmark, I came to appreciate the delicacy of Scandinavian features, but also the strength of my own in contrast. Can I say it? I love my straight nose! Why? Well, because it reminds me of the mother country, and because, hey, it's actually rather beautiful. But if you simply must! Here are a few tips to make your own nose look a bit smaller in minutes without cosmetic surgery- AND keep you looking young, beautiful and radiant.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Apply blush to make your cheeks look radiant and draw attention from your nose.

  2. Step 2

Apply your usual eye make-up, but use the following tip to bring a glow to your eyes: Line your eyes with a beige-to-ivory eyeshadow by wetting a liner brush (please see my picture), and applying your chosen color to the brush and carefully lining your lower eyelid. This will make your eyes look young and bright.

  3. Step 3

Apply a thin layer of high sheen glimmer above your cheekbone. Select a color that compliments your skin tone. The shimmer should bring a subtle and natural glow to your face. See the Bare Escentuals collection which is light, natural and keeps you looking beautiful throughout the day.

  4. Step 4

Now for the real trick: Use a concealer brush (please see my picture)- Bare Escentuals sells several wonderful options- to apply foundation powder to the sides of your nose where it meets with your cheeks. Use a foundation color that is no more than one shade darker than your skin tone. Blend well. This increases the dimensions in your face, makes your nose look a bit more slender and delicate.

  5. Step 5

    Feel fierce!

on 1/29/2009 Nice simple instructions. I appreciate that because I think I'm a total klutz putting on makeup. Thanks for the advice and good to hear that you overcame your issue with your own appearance ;)

on 10/29/2008 Another level to add to your foundation trick (learned from Kevyn Aucoin) is to place a thin line of concealer, perhaps one shade lighter than foundation, straight down your nose, stopping about about 1/4 inch from the tip. Gently blend into skin, and then apply foundation as usual. I believe the info was in his Making Faces book.

Excellent ideas!! And it's nice to see someone who appreciates their individual features!
