Choose a theme for your gourmet gift basket. Food, obviously, but what will connect the items in it as a group? Here are a few ideas: wine and cheese, Italian, fruit and nuts, chocolate and coffee, tea time, sausage and cheese, candy and sweets. Pick one that will appeal to your recipient and you'll enjoy putting together.

  2. Step 2

Go shopping! Buy the ingredients for your gourmet gift basket. If you are making several baskets, you can buy some gourmet food items, like nuts or dried fruit, in bulk and split them up with decorative packaging. Include accessories like coffee mugs or cheese slicers if you like.

  3. Step 3

  4. Step 4

Assemble the gourmet gift basket by adding each of the items in an attractive display within the basket. You may need to use hidden tape, glue or florist wire to keep items in the correct positions.

  5. Step 5

Decorate the gourmet gift basket with a ribbon, bow or other decorative touch.
