Make a Car Winter Safety Kit

During the winter months, there are many emergencies that may happen to you and your family. It is important to always be prepared in advance of these emergencies. Winter emergencies carry with them their own set of needs to be prepared for. One of the places that it is important to be prepared for your winter emergencies is in the car. You never know when you may become stranded in your car during the winter. It is best to have a winter safety kit in your car at all times.

Step 1

The best container to use for your car winter safety kit is a medium size plastic storage container. This is a good container to use because they stay sealed and are easily stored in the trunk of your car. If you have a large family and travel in a larger SUV, you may want to think about using a larger storage container for your winter safety kit.
Step 2

Place a few warm blankets inside of your winter safety kit. You never know when you may be stuck in the car without heat. You will need to be able to keep warm until help can get to you. The blankets can also be used to keep you warm if you need to leave your car during the winter months to get help. There are many uses for warm blankets in a winter safety kit.
Step 3

Place extra gloves and hats for family members and yourself into the winter safety kit. A winter emergency could happen at anytime. This includes that quick run to the store where you do not grab your hat and gloves.

During the winter months, it is often hard to see things at a distant. This is very true during snow storms. Place into your winter safety kit a few flashlights and an emergency flasher. This will help people to see you and your car during the winter emergencies that may arise

During a winter emergency in your car, you can never be sure when you will be able to get to someplace to get food and water. It is important to have some sort of food and beverage in your winter safety kit. Make sure that you include anything that you may need for infants that will be traveling with you. Keep crackers and cookies as well as other non-perishable foods in your kit. Place bottles of water wrapped up in the blankets in your winter safety kit. They will still possibly freeze but you will at least have some options as far as drinks when you are stuck.
