Memory is Important: Here Are Some Tips

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An open mind and a willingness and desire to improve your memory.
  1. Step 1

Whatever you are working on at the time, focus only on that project. And, be in a place where there are few distractions such as music or television.

  2. Step 2

Be sure and structure and organize your thinking and studying. Make your studying and anlayzing done in a consistent manner.

  3. Step 3

To help memorize, you might try humor, singing or jokes. By doing something that will help you remember a person's name, or better understand a topic or subject that is necessary, you will find that remembering will be easier.

  4. Step 4

Rehearse and go over several times that which you want to remember. An example would be--when meeting someone for the first time, repeat their name to yourself over and over. Associating something about the person with their name often helps, such as "Roy is just a boy of joy."

  5. Step 5

When studying something especially challenging, try visualizing the subject. Looks closely at drawings or illustrations that are presented. By associating the subject to pictures, you will gain knowledge that will help you to remember.

  6. Step 6

When studying, try changing the location where you study. This offers the brain a new area in which to learn and the newness often helps with memorizing.
