Nursery Rhymes have been around for a long time. Nursery Rhymes are used in schools to help teach children about words and reading. Nursery Rhymes can be a lot of fun for children. Children love Old Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes.

  1. Step 1
    Read Nursery Rhymes
    Read Nursery Rhymes

    Read a book of nursery rhymes out loud with a child. Listen to the fun rhymes and memorize a few nursery rhymes.

  2. Step 2

    Help a child learn to read using nursery rhymes. Learning how words are similar helps children learn to read.

    Nursery Rhyme Quiz
    Nursery Rhyme Quiz

    Create a Nursery Rhyme Quiz. Here is an example:

    1. The monkey chased what around the mulberry bush?

    2. When ants go marching one by one, the little one stops to what?

    3. Hi-ho, the derry-o, the nurse takes what animal?

    4. What did Little Miss Muffet eat?

    5. What did Mary, Mary, quite contrary, grow in her garden?

    Ghost and Witch
    Ghost and Witch

    Change the words to an old familiar Nursery Rhymes to make a new nursery rhyme. For an example see the link below called Ghost and Witch under Additional Resources. Ghost and Witch was written similar to Jack and Jill.

    Rhyming Dictionary

    Make up a modern day nursery rhyme. Use a rhyming dictionary to get ideas.

    Have a party with a nursery rhyme theme. Nursery Rhymes make great themes for birthday parties, baby showers, school parties, and library parties.

    Play charades with nursery rhymes. Young and old all like to play charades. Most everyone knows a few Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes.
