Step 1
Assess your jewelry collection. Go through your collection and figure out how many rings, bracelets, earrings, pins, necklaces and other types of jewelry you have. It is necessary to know exactly how large your collection is before you buy an organizer.
-
Step 2
Decide how large an organizer you'll need to accommodate your collection. For a smaller collection you might choose a dresser top box. A larger collection might require a free standing jewelry armoire. Whatever you choose, make sure to get an organizer with extra space to allow for adding pieces to your collection.
-
Step 3
Decide what feature you'll need. Based on your jewelry collection assessment, what should your jewelry organizer contain in order to best accommodate your collection? For example, if you love to wear a variety of brilliantly colored gemstone rings, you'll need an organizer with plenty of ring slots. If bright necklaces are your weakness, you'll want several hooks from which to hang them.

Step 4
Take decorating style into account. If your bedroom is decorated primarily with elegant mahogany furniture, a cutesy, country style organizer might look out of place. Don't forget that your organizer is a decorative element in your room and make sure it blends with the overall design.
