How to Make Caramel Popcorn Balls

Caramel popcorn balls are a great treat that you and your children can make together. Very yummy. Wrap these caramel popcorn balls in plastic wrap or cellophane to give as gifts.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Large pot or microwave
  • Medium pot
  • Popped popcorn
  • Large bowl
  • Salt
  • Bag of caramels
  • Tablespoon of water
  • Butter
  • Wax paper
  • Plastice wrap or celephane
  1. Step 1
    Popped popcorn
    Popped popcorn

    Pop the popcorn. You can pop it on the stove in a large pot use microwave popcorn. If desired, lightly salt your popped corn.

  2. Step 2
    Melt caramels
    Melt caramels

    Unwrap each caramel and put them all in a medium sized pot. Melt your caramels over medium heat, stirring frequently. You may add up to 2 tablespoons of water if desired for easier stirring.

  3. Step 3

    Pour the melted caramel over the popped popcorn in a large bowl. Toss and stir gently until popcorn is covered with the caramel.

  4. Step 4

    Butter your hands well. Take a handful of caramel popcorn and shape it into a popcorn ball.

  5. Step 5

    Set finished caramel popcorn balls on wax paper to harden a bit; then wrap caramel popcorn balls in colorful plastic wrap or cellophane to give out as treats.

Tips & Warnings
  • Adding peanuts makes this snack a good source of protein
  • You can just spread the caramel-covered popcorn on a sheet of waxed paper and let it harden a bit. Pull off clusters and eat
  • These make great Halloween party treats
  • Should be supervised by an adult as there is hot caramel involved
