This is a wonderful little recipe for "Strawberry Mice" that I found on the familyfun.com website and used while I was a nanny. My little boys loved them! Strawberry mice are a lovely touch to a Princess Birthday Party or a Halloween Party. Plus, they are yummy AND healthy!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Big, Juicy Strawberries
  • Red Lace Licorice
  • Black Cake Icing
  • Almond Slices
  1. Step 1

Wash your strawberries and cut off the leaves.

  2. Step 2

Poke a toothpick where the strawberry stem was. In this hole, place a 1/2 to 3/4 inch piece of the red licorice lace.

  3. Step 3

Add eyes and a small nose with your decorator's icing.

  4. Step 4

Use two almond slices as ears.

  5. Step 5

    Enjoy your fresh treats!

Tips & Warnings
  • One of my favorite childhood memories is of my brother and I picking strawberries in my grandfather's eternally muddy backyard. Early summertime is strawberry season, and many local farms allow visitors to pick their own strawberries. For a special touch to your treat, take your child or children strawberry picking. It is a wonderful idea for even the smallest children, as strawberries grow low to the ground and are very easy to pick.
