Affiliate sales are a huge part of making money online. Affiliate advertising is what's driving much of the Web economy. With billions of dollars up for grabs online, there's no reason not to start making affiliate sales and earning money online.

1. Choose products that have a definite audience. Affiliate sales are a numbers game. There's a lot of competition and a lot of products to be sold. You need to choose items that have a large possible customer base as well as items that don't have too much competition. Search the Internet and see where the items are being sold. If there are pages and pages of results, the item may been over-saturated in the market. Even great affiliate marketing won't make much of a dent if over-saturation is at play.

2. Put together an affiliate marketing website where you can display your affiliate links. The links are what your customers will use to buy products. For each item they buy through one of your custom affiliate links, you will get a specific portion of the sale. Each company determines their own commission percentage. Put plenty of information about the topic on the site- not just the links. People won't be intrigued by a page of links with nothing more.

3. Drive people to your website or your links by placing your own articles in article directories and on blogs and other websites. These articles will help you by containing an affiliate link at the end of them that points to your website.

4. Hire a Web writer to write the articles if you have trouble writing professional-quality articles or if you don't have the time to do so. You can also buy private label rights articles. These give you the rights to use the articles any way you wish and to change the articles to better fit your website.

5. Keep promoting your website. It takes time and effort to make affiliate marketing into a successful business. To get the largest number of customers you can, you have to have steady website traffic. You may also want to pay for affiliate advertising like pay per click ads. Try purchasing banner ads on a well-known website or using AdWords pay per click ads to promote your site.
