Sell your horse-themed art and gifts online

If you are an artist who loves to paint, draw or sculpt horses, you can sell online through various auction sites, craft listings, and one online art gallery that specializes in horses. There are over one million horse lovers in the United States alone, most with disposable incomes greater than the average. They love to collect and enjoy horse art. Tap into this lucrative market and sell equine art online.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer and internet connection
  • Horse drawings, sculptures or paintings you made yourself
  • Digital camera to photograph works
  1. Step 1

Analyze your work in light of the competition. Does you artwork stand out as unique or special? How would you categorize it - realistic, modern, post modern? Know how to describe your art and artistic style.

  2. Step 2

Take the best photographs you can of your work. Take photos of sculptures from various angles, including both sides, front and back. For prints and paintings, be sure pictures are clear.

  3. Step 3

Write up a description of the works, including size, year created, medium and edition information. Write up a brief resume of your artistic accomplishments too.

  4. Step 4

Find companies willing to represent new artists or places to sell your online artwork. Etsy is an online shopping site for artists and artisans that may be a good outlet. EquinArt Creations is an online retailer of equine art that accepts new artists.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make sure that your pitch to companies is professional.
  • Do not go overboard contacting companies...yes, follow up if you don't hear from them, but don't pester them with too many calls or emails either. That's a big turnoff!
  • Be very careful if companies willing to represent you want money up front. Investigate thoroughly.
