Step 1
Happy Thanksgiving DayPlan Ahead. When is Thanksgiving? Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November in the United States. Make a list of who to invite, activities to do, food to prepare, and where to meet for a Happy Thanksgiving.
-
Step 2
Know upcoming Thanksgiving Dates. Thanksgiving dates for November 2008 to 2014 are as follows:
Thursday, November 27, 2008
Thursday, November 26, 2009
Thursday, November 25, 2010
Thursday, November 24, 2011
Thursday, November 22, 2012
Thursday, November 28, 2013
Thursday, November 27, 2014 -
Step 3
Invite FamilyInvite family and friends. Thanksgiving is usually more enjoyable when you are surrounded by friends and family. Have them bring something to the meal.
-
Step 4
Thanksgiving DinnerKeep the food preparation simple and delegate responsibilities. If you love to cook and the kitchen is the center of activity, enjoy it. If you will be alone in the kitchen preparing the meal, keep the meal simple. Buy a precooked turkey, easy to bake rolls, warm and serve side dishes, and take and bake pies. Use paper plates and plastic cups for easy clean up.
-
Step 5
Thanksgiving DessertsPrepare some food the day before Happy Thanksgiving. Desserts can easily be prepared ahead of time. You could even cook the turkey the day before Thanksgiving or even earlier and freeze it.
-
Step 6
SnacksHave snacks children can munch on. Children often get hungry before the big meal and need to snack.
-
Step 7
Thanksgiving ActivitiesPlan activities for all ages, but be flexible. It is good to know who is coming and have something for each age group to do. However, don't be discouraged if everyone chooses to do something different than what you have planned. You could ask friends and family to bring their own games, movies, and entertainment to help make a Happy Thanksgiving for all.
-
Step 8
TurkeyBe patient. The turkey may take longer to cook than expected. Friends or family may arrive late. You may burn the potatoes. Enjoy the moments you have together with family and friends for a Happy Thanksgiving.
