Step 1
Complete the duplicate dog registration form. You can obtain the form from the AKC website. Be sure to complete each section.

Submit the application to the American Kennel Club along with a $15 processing fee.

Send a letter to the American Kennel Club. Don’t fret if you cannot download AKC’s duplicate registration form. You can send a letter to the American Kennel Club with the necessary information. Be sure to explain that you are seeking a duplicate registration.

Step 4
Include the important information. They will need to know the litter number, breed and date of birth. In addition, provide them with the owner’s name, address and signature. Don’t forget to tell them the gender of the dog.

Step 5
Submit letter with the $15 processing fee.

on 10/28/2008 I had to do this recently. A phone call easily replaced the need to write the letter and I paid via debit card over the phone while I was at it. You're article is 100% right, just adding an alternative. 5 *****
