1
Begin a workout regime at least 6-8 weeks before starting basic training. This workout includes running and calisthenics 3-5 times a week.
-
2
Assess your fitness level. You must be in reasonably good shape to begin this workout. If you have to start with a walk or slow jog until you can work yourself up, it is important that you do.

Start with a one mile run (or walk) 3 times/week for the first week and work up to 2 mile runs over the next two weeks. Once you can complete a 2-mile run at a good pace, start running 2 miles 5 times a week. Depending on your fitness level, the following 2-4 weeks you will continue to add mileage and run 3-5 times a week.
