rent a house

Rent vs. buy, this is a question a lot of people thinks about constantly. There are advantages associated with renting a house and disadvantages as well. This article talks renting a house and evaluates if renting is for you or not.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • computer
  • internet
  • newspaper
  1. Step 1

You should rent a house if you have a very tight budget. Renting cost less. Renting is significantly cheaper than buying a house in most states in the US.

  2. Step 2

You should rent a house if you need more freedom and flexibility. With an unstable job market, it's better to rent because you don't know if your job is secure or not. With the current job market, it's very hard to find another job locally. By renting, you always have the option of moving easily.

  3. Step 3

You should rent a house when you don't want to worry about repairs. Toilet broken, roof leaking, not your problem. Just call the landlord and he will have to fix it for you.

  4. Step 4

You have to rent a house when you are constantly traveling and want to live abroad for a period of time? No problem, as renting provides lots of freedom, you are not forced to stay at a place for a long time.

  5. Step 5

No down payment, invest nothing in real estate can sometimes be a good thing. Many people argue that they can make significant money with real estate. According to the experts, it's not really true. Although real estate market has up and downs, but it's overall return for a long period of time is 0. So you really have to buy and sell at the right times to make money. And if you don't catch the right times, you will lose significant amount of money. With renting, you don't have to worry about all that.

  6. Step 6

You just don't have money for down payment. Don't force yourself to buy, it won't be good. Renting is probably your only option in that case.

  7. Step 7

Many people argue that by renting a house / apartment, you are just throwing money away. But it's not true. You use your money in exchange for shelter. So, look on websites and newspaper for houses / apartment for rent if you think renting if for you.

on 10/27/2008 Renting is great for short-term, up to five years, but for long term, buying is usually better. Good tips!
