Children love to help decorate or make things for their parents. Since earning money is not always an option try using the outdoors to help.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pine cones all sizes
  • hot glue gun or tacky craft glue
  • plate with candles-only if making the table decoration
  • Evergreen branches -optional
  • artifical snow - optional
  • glitter-all colors or one its your choice
  • plastic caps from soda bottles or milk bottle tops
  1. Step 1

Going outside and collecting pinecones and pine branches makes a wonderful family day. Take the pine cones and cover with white glue.

  2. Step 2

Using glitter cover the glued areas. Let dry. You can cover the pine cone with artifical snow if you choose at this time. Glue the bottom of the pine cone into the soda bottle top or milk jug top depending on the size. Use the hot glue gun or tacky glue to attach and stand upright to dry.

  3. Step 3

If making a table centerpiece place the pine cones among the evergreen branches. Another option is add a plate of pillar candles different sizes in holiday or seasonal colors in the center of the pine branches and pine cones.

Tips & Warnings
  • This is an inexpensive school or craft fair project for kids to make. Just have one cone per child and send it home with them when dry.
  • If you want it as a gift for the child to give to someone; try using the pine needles long and short to paint art paper with for wrapping paper. Let dry and wrap by bringing all paper sides around the cone and twist. Add ribbon or string to tie. A card can be made like the wrapping paper as well.
  • If making the table centerpiece with candles be sure the cones and branches are not close enough to be dripped on or catch fire.
