Save Money on Wrapping Paper

Let’s set the scene: dozens of half used rolls of wrapping paper are lying strewn around a garage or basement. They’re such a mess that instead of using the wrapping paper that is already available, the person who lives there keeps buying fresh rolls of wrapping paper to avoid the hassle.

Does this scenario sound familiar to you? If so, this article is for you.

From Quick Guide: Gift Wrapping
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Toss it. That’s right - toss out ALL of the wrapping paper that you currently own. I don’t care how expensive it was or how much you like it; getting rid of it is the first step toward reducing stress when wrapping gifts.

  2. Step 2

White and Tan. While any craft store should have rolls of plain white and tan craft wrapping paper, we find that the brand at Michael’s is not only the best quality, but also the least expensive. Buy one or two rolls and follow step 3.

  3. Step 3

Ribbon. Pick out a few key ribbon colors: red, green, white, pink, and blue. Or, if you see an patterned ribbon that you like, you can pick that up as well. Purchase these along with your white or tan craft wrapping paper and head home.

  4. Step 4

The Staples. While it might not seems like a lot, you really only need the white or tan craft wrapping paper and a couple different wrapping paper. Why? Because you can cover almost any occasion with these few staples.

  5. Step 5

Christmas. Wrap gifts in either tan or white craft wrapping paper and decorate with red or green ribbon. You also have the option of stamping the craft wrapping paper to add a more personal touch.

  6. Step 6

Weddings. Wrap gifts in the white craft wrapping paper and tie with a white ribbon. You could also pick up some gold or silver ribbon for the occasion.

  7. Step 7

Baby showers. Wrap gifts in white craft wrapping paper and tie with a blue or pink ribbon. Don’t know what gender the baby is? No problem; why not use both blue and pink or use a yellow ribbon instead?

Tips & Warnings
  • See, with minimal changes to the color of ribbon you use or your choice of stamps, two rolls of wrapping paper are all you need for any occasion. And plus: it gives you a classy look for very little cost.
